Now enjoy freedom from unwanted telemarketing Calls and SMS which come into force from 27th Sep 2011. Please refer to the advert below from Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI).
However bank alerts are unaffected by the TRAI order so that consumers continue to receive alerts related to their banking transactions. Railways and airlines are also allowed to send SMSes related to a consumer transaction. Registered educational institutes are also allowed to send SMSes to parents of their students.
There should be no space after 'START' or 'STOP' and options are separated by commas.
- To block all categories, SMS ‘START0’
- A zero at the start, as in ‘START0,1,5,6’ will fully block all categories - To unblock a category, SMS ‘STOP’ and the number without a space
- To de-register completely, SMS only ‘STOP’ without spaces
Registration, changes or de-registration take 7 days to take effect
