Can a Retailer mark his merchandise with a price and when you pay at the till they add VAT of 14% to the marked price. According to my knowledge this is INCORRECT. Please advise.

VAT is a govt. component in the retail price of goods and is usually recovered from consumers by retailers. You however need to confirm if 14% is what is prescibed by the govt.
